Professor Richard Ye，Founding Dean of LHS/Presidential Chair Professor
On February 1st 2019, Professor Ye is officially appointed as the Founding Dean of LHS. Professor Ye graduated from Shanghai Second Medical College (Now Shanghai Jiao Tong University School of Medicine) in 1982 and received his Ph.D. from Washington University in St. Louis, USA in 1988. Since 1989, he has served as an Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, and Professor at Scripps Research Institute and the University of Illinois College of Medicine. His research projects have been continuously funded by the National Institutes of Health for 25 years.
His main research interests include signal transduction of G protein-coupled receptors and their roles in innate immune cells, inflammatory mechanisms and pathological models, and the discovery of related drug targets. He has collaborated with Johnson & Johnson, Novartis, GSK and other companies on new drug discovery. He was granted 2 US patents, 1 Chinese patent as the first inventor, and 2 joint inventor patents. He has published 198 research papers on SCI journals, having been cited for more than 10,000 times.
In 2010, Professor Ye returned to China as Chair Professor at Shanghai Jiao Tong University and Dean of the School of Pharmacy. From January 2015 to January 2019, he served as Chair Professor at the University of Macau. Other Academic engagement including serving as an Associate Editor of THE FASEB Journal, Associate Editor of Pharmacological Reviews, Associate Editor of Physiology Reviews, and member of the editorial boards of the British Journal of Pharmacologyand Molecular Pharmacology.
The Academic Board of the Chinese University of Hong Kong take charge of the approval and supervision of degree programs, guiding and managing teaching and teaching-related matters, and supervising the level of CUHK-Shenzhen degree qualification. CUHK-Shenzhen graduates are awarded degree certificates by the Chinese University of Hong Kong. The School of Life and Health Sciences will be open for undergraduate admission in Bioinformatics major in 2019 and Pharmaceutical Sciences and Biomedical Sciences in 2020.
